Dallas Cowboys has had a rough start losing 3-19 against Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFL preseason finals. Not only did they lose the game, but they had a further blow as they lost their starting quarterback.
As the Cowboys trailed 3-19 against Tampa Bay, they rallied for some late-game offensive in hopes of turning the table. Unfortunately, Dak Prescott collided with Tampa Bay linebacker Shaq Barrett while throwing a pass.
The collision with Barrett resulted in an unfortunate injury. Prescott suffered a thumb injury, and he will miss several games.
Dak Prescott Will Undergo Surgery
According to Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, Prescott will need to undergo surgery. The owner confirmed that the starting quarterback has a fracture behind the thumb. He will need some recovery period for his hand injury but won’t be out for a year.
Prescott attended the post-game conference wearing braces in his hand. The 29-years-old quarterback said he will meet with the medical staff today (September 12). He confirmed that he would be disappointed to miss some games due to his injury.
As Prescott is headed for surgery and is confirmed to miss several weeks of NFL games, there are several questions about who the Cowboys will choose to replace him. The Cowboys have their next game against the Bengals on September 19, followed by the Giants on September 27.
This is not the first time Prescott left the field with his injury. During the 2020 season, he dealt with a gruesome ankle injury that resulted in him leaving the game on a cart. Due to a severe right ankle injury, he underwent surgery in the hospital.
According to the Cowboys, Prescott dislocated his right ankle and suffered a compound fracture. He underwent surgery, missing the rest of the NFL 2020 season.
