Valve’s DOTA 2 undoubtedly remains one of the most popular online games since launching back in July 2013. More than seven years since its initial release, the game is now finally getting an anime adaptation, all thanks to Netflix.

The season 1 of anime DOTA: Dragon’s Blood is undoubtedly a much-anticipated series to watch. The upcoming fantasy series will feature a total of eight episodes with a runtime of 30 minutes each.

DOTA 2 Anime Release Date, & Story Plot

Out of nowhere, Valve surprised us with the most fantastic news of MOBA history— to adapt an anime series of its hit online video game, DOTA 2.

As announced by Valve’s DOTA 2 on its TwitterDOTA: Dragon’s Blood is set to release on 25 March 2021. It will premier exclusively on Netflix.

As said by NetflixDOTA: Dragon’s Blood tells the story of Davion, a Dragon Knight. He devotes himself to wipe out the scourage from the face of the world.

In the turn of events, Davion meets an ancient eldwurum and Princess Mirana and becomes entangled in the things he had never anticipated.

In the DOTA 2 video game, Dragon Knight is a melee-strength hero who transforms into Elder Dragon Form to nuke multiple enemies at once. On the other side, Mirana is a ranged-agility hero known for using a Sacred Arrow that stuns enemies. These two heroes are now the stars of the new anime series.

While we can expect more heroes introduction, in the meanwhile, ensure you have bookmarked Valve’s DOTA 2 anime series on Netflix. Be sure to watch it when it drops on 25 March.

DOTA 2 Anime Season 1: Trailer, & Casts

Netflix launched the official trailer of DOTA: Dragon’s Blood on YouTube in February 2021, which is almost one minute long. It features the main protagonist, a Dragon Knight who calls himself Davian.

Screenplay and co-writer of X-Men: First Class and Thor, Ashley Edward Miller is the showrunner and executive producer of the upcoming fantasy series. As per ign.com, in a press release, Miller said:

“Fans will love how we’ve imagined the DOTA 2 universe and woven together an epic, emotional, and adult-oriented story about some of their favorite characters. The cinematic animation, acting and music are simply next level and I’m grateful to Valve for supporting our creative ambitions.”

Ryu Ki Hyun will serve as the co-executive producer, while Studio MIP provides the series’ animation.
