He sued the magazine on June 1, 2018, after the paper claimed him a ‘wife beater’ in an article titled “GONE POTTY How Can J K Rowling be ‘genuinely happy’ casting wife beater Johnny Depp in the new Fantastic Beasts film?.”
After two years of lawsuits against The Sun, he lost the libel case in November 2020. Judge Mr. Justice Nicol released the 129-page ruling in which Depp was found guilty among 12 of 14 alleged domestic violence against his ex-wife Amber Heard.
